The purpose of the Nadia and Lili Boulanger international Singing and Piano Competition is to encourage the development of young singers and piano accompanists. The other purpose of the competition is to popularise the work of Lili Boulanger and more particularly the undeservedly neglected work of Nadia.
The competition takes its inspiration from the teaching methods of Nadia Boulanger who taught piano accompaniment at the Paris Conservatoire from 1946 to 1954. The competitors are required to perform, among others, works of Johann Sebastian Bach and Gabriel Fauré.
Prizes are awarded to the best singer, to the best piano accompanist and to the best duet.
The Competition takes place in Paris each two years, in front of a seven-members international jury.
The Nadia and Lili Boulanger international Singing and Piano Competition also gives the winner of the Singing Prize a concert performance opportunity in a Paris venue.
